(UK) The Healthcare Commission 2004-2009: regulating healthcare – experience and lessons

The Healthcare Commission ceases to exist at the end of March 2009. A new, integrated regulator of health, mental health and adult social care – the Care Quality Commission – takes over on 1 April 2009. This report looks at the lessons that have been learned from the work of the Healthcare Commission over the last five years. Its objective is to inform the continuing debate about the place and role of regulation as it relates to health and healthcare in England.
